Favorite Links

This is a list of some of my favorite links. I probably check out 50 or so photo related sites in a month but these are the ones that are probably the ones that I refer people to the most.

Shopping:
  • B&H Photo Video: I have shopped at other places and they are never as consistent with service and prices. I think the most important think with B&H is they are honest and dependable. If an item is out of stock they will tell you instead of taking your money and making you wait. The prices can be up to 5% higher then other in some rare case. But to me the 5% is more than worth the hassle free process. I have been buying from them since 1997 and have yet to have a single problem. (I did not make a dime off this endorsement.)

Panorama Info:

Photo Clubs
  • North County Photographic Society: I am currently the Vice President of the North County Photographic Society (in San Diego County) which has an impressive list of very talented photographers. This group is dedicated to introducing photographers to each other, helping members improve their photography through Member Share and encouraging members to get out there and take photographs.

Odds and Ends:

  • Take a look at this mixed use development project. I did some of the original photos of the architectural model during the early stages of marketing the project.

Equipment review:
  • PhotographyReview.com: This is an area where people review products they have purchased and used. I like it for photo products but not for many of the other things that are reviewed. Make sure you read both the good and bad reviews.
  • Steve's DigiCam: This is a site that does a very in-depth review of digital products. They are good about bringing your attention to product defects and shortcomings. The two important things about this site are that the person reviewing the product knows a lot about digital equipment and you need to read the full review not just the summary at the end.
  • Ken Rockwell: I know Ken personally. He is very bright and opinionated. You need to read a number of things on his site to understand what he is like and what his opinions are. Once you have done that you can get a lot out of his reviews because he is very practical in his (unscientific) reviews.
  • Digital Photography Review.
  • Photo Do
  • Nikon related info.

Photo Finishers:

Photo Magazines:
  • Popular Photography and Imaging: The best for beginners to advanced photographers and it has a very good website.
  • VividLight.com: Very good digital photography mag. Unfortunately it is now defunct but the existing articles are still relevant and great.
  • Apogee: Another digital Mag with some good info.
